A Brief Introduction About Me

Hey, I’m Chris and welcome to my Sound Lab. I’ve been creating and recording music for as long as I can remember. I’m a musician, composer, and audio engineer. I began my journey experimenting in my early teens with recording equipment. Since then, I’ve studied an honours degree in audio production and been a part of countless creative projects.

What’s the purpose of my site?

I built this website because I want to help others learn the ins and outs of audio production and home recording. I remember when I first started learning, the amount of jargon, technical explanations, and choices of gear was really overwhelming. I want to make home recording easy for you to learn. On my website you’ll find articles that explain complicated subjects in easy to understand language,  gear recommendations and reviews.

I always strive to make my writing as useful, informative, and helpful as possible for beginners, hobbyists, and even those with more experience. I like to include diagrams, sound samples, and clear definitions of technical jargon. Regardless of whether you are a podcaster, streamer, producer, aspiring sound engineer, or musician, you will find plenty of useful information on my site to benefit you.

How should I use your website?

On the tabs above you’ll find gear guides, gear recommendations, and gear reviews. The gear guides section aims to help you understand audio equipment. You’ll find topics covered such as ‘What is an Audio Interface?‘ and ‘What is a DAW?‘. The gear recommendations tab aims to give you suggestions for the equipment you need for your purpose and budget. You’ll find topics such as ‘The Best Audio Interfaces for Live Streaming‘ or ‘The Best Studio Monitors for a Home Studio‘. And finally, the gear reviews tab is for reviews of specific pieces of equipment such as the ‘Shure MV7 microphone‘ or the ‘Focusrite Scarlett Series audio interfaces‘.

Please take your time to browse around my website and don’t forget to enjoy the learning process. It’s a never ending journey. Whatever your aim is, no doubt you will continue to learn, develop, and expand upon your hobby, business, or passion in time. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment on any of my articles and I will get back to you asap.
